Names of Places in French
In French when you want to say you are going to a place you will always use “to the + name of the place” along with the verb aller which means to go.
à is to and the can be le/la/les depending on whether the pace is masculine, feminine or plural.
To say “to the” we use contracted articles like,

- à + les = aux – Ils vont aux Ètats-Unis.

Note: “aux magasins” translates to “At the stores” where “magasins” means “stores” in French.
